U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Inspector General (OIG), led by Inspector General Anthony P. D’Esposito is intensifying its aggressive pursuit of fraud, waste, and abuse as the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary. The OIG remains committed to protecting American workers and the programs they rely on.
Fraud is not a victimless crime. It funds human trafficking networks exploiting the vulnerable, strips honest workers of hard-earned benefits, and allows labor racketeering schemes to fund violent crime.
“The OIG’s mission is driven by our deep commitment to the American people and the principles that define this great nation,” said Anthony P. D’Esposito, Inspector General, U.S. Department of Labor. “Defrauding the American taxpayer undermines the very fabric of what we stand for. The American people deserve a system they can trust, and my office will do everything in its power to aggressively hunt down fraudsters, dismantle their schemes, and uphold the integrity of these benefit programs.”
The OIG is leveraging unprecedented coordination with President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance’s White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud. This whole-of-government approach is uniting agencies, aligning resources, and delivering real results in protecting taxpayer-funded programs.
As the nation celebrates Independence Day and commemorates its 250th year, the OIG emphasizes that fraud is not a partisan issue — it’s an American issue. The office remains united in its mission to protect the nation’s workers, safeguard resources, and uphold the enduring values in which this country was founded.
